Masterplan Sihlcity Zurich

After almost four years of construction, a new district, Sihlcity, was erected on the grounds of the former Sihl paper factory. The location is in the southwest of Zuerich and the area is around 100'000 m2. Amongst the core element which is the shopping mall, Sihlcity offers numerous leisure and entertainment possibilities. Therefore, this area is almost 24 hours a day in operation. The lighting of the district, thus, played a central role in the planning process. For this urban major project which is surrounded by a very heterogeneous structure, it was necessary to find a lighting concept which fulfilled various demands and needs. A particular focus of the lighting design was on the creation of an appropriate atmospherical quality for the commercial area.
