Welcome,
Ticià Sàrries

My background is closely linked to art and design. During my architectural studies, I found light to be the most powerful and exciting tool for turning my dreams into reality. The world, its cultures, and its history can be explained by light; it is present in every area of life. As a designer, lighting allows me to give free rein to my imagination and to dream big. I'm delighted to be sharing these dreams with Reflexion!

Welcome,
Vincent Tona

Driven by the constant desire to make art my daily companion, I have not subdued any inspiration. Like sound, light is a medium that can be described in individual frequencies, but is only recognisable, or indeed perceptible, when they are combined. Where the imperceptible tends to hide, light – completely free of prejudice and rules – illuminates everything. Whether we like it or not. In my opinion, it is this very simplicity which gives light this profound power that touches each and every one of us.

Light has long been a passion of mine. Coming from the field of electrical engineering, it was clear to me very early on that I wanted to deepen my knowledge of lighting and the understanding of space. After all, don’t these microscopic waves create all of our realities? Every single day! From feeling the sun's rays on your skin, to simply recognising the dresser in the bedroom, to experiencing your favourite artist’s live show... Because light is a major component of being. The essence of life.

I am very much looking forward to working on exciting projects with Reflexion.

Welcome,
Antonios Chatzianestis

My interest in lighting design came about by chance – a chance that became a passion. From sunlight to candlelight, daylight to artificial light, light has the power to change the way you look at something. Lighting can transform the architecture and dynamics of a space, indoors or out, making light an integral part of our lives. Lighting design is the art of engineering how light can influence the wellbeing and beauty of our daily lives. Every project is unique and should therefore be designed individually, with its own approach to lighting. I very much look forward to the challenging and exciting projects at Reflexion.

“The Circle at Zurich Airport” Wins the German Design Award

We are very pleased and proud to have won the “Special Mention” award for our project, “The Circle at Zurich Airport”, in the “Excellent Architecture – Lighting Design” category.
This is a tremendous recognition of the quality of our design, and we are very honoured to receive this award.
The German Design Award is one of the most renowned design prizes in the world and has a reputation that extends far beyond specialist circles. To stand out here, against top-notch competition, means being among the best.

Project Description
We designed the interior and exterior lighting for the new “The Circle at Zurich Airport” building complex. Among others, the project included the outdoor area with the lighting structure – “The Path” – developed in collaboration with LOOP Associates, the Convention Centre, the Jelmoli Lifestyle + Sports House, and the Hyatt Regency/Hyatt Place hotels. With its curved line, “The Path” guides visitors through the building's walkways, providing changing lighting moods and a common thread

Welcome,
Stefano Vegnuti

«Strictly speaking, it wasn't love at first sight. I only discovered lighting design late and slowly over the course of my studies. And yet, part of me has always been fascinated by light, which has, over the years, grown closer to my heart. Light is omnipresent, enchanting, impressive, and surprisingly powerful – in every sense of the word: it completely upset the career path I had long imagined, leading me from the Mediterranean to the foot of the Swiss Alps, where I’ve found a new home – and not least, a true passion. I look forward to many exciting projects at Reflexion» – Stefano

20 Years of Reflexion

Reflexion is 20 years young and celebrates this occasion with its employees.

Together, we visited the kiln tower in the Brickworks Museum in Cham, where Reflexion was able to provide the lighting.

Roger Boltshauser developed the kiln tower with his students, completing it in 2021. Thanks to prestressing the clay building, an oversized exhibition space is created. The roof can be walked on as an observation deck, offering fantastic views of the surrounding nature.

About the special – panel discussion in the Careum Auditorium

Architecture and lighting design

Reflexion sent out invites for a dialogue conference regarding customized luminaires. On September 5th, the architects Roger Boltshauser, Mike Guyer and Peter Märkli spoke with Jürg Zumtobel, the developer Markus Mettler and Reflexion founder Thomas Mika about customized lighting at a panel discussion in the Careum Auditorium in Zurich.

Do you need a unique luminaire and when is it used? How does the collaboration work in their development and what is the role of it in architecture? The top-class and cheerful podium dealt with these questions and cast a spell over the audience.

At the beginning of the event, Christof Bhend, the architect of the Careum Auditorium, presented his project. He also dealt in particular with the light in the underground auditorium and the special lights, that were developed together with the Reflexion.

Martina Lehr, CEO of Reflexion, provided an insight into the everyday life of the lighting designer in connection with the development of special luminaires. It takes strength and conviction to go the path of your own development and this is characterized by pleasure and suffering in equal measure.

The subsequent aperitif offered the opportunity for a lively exchange in a good mood and we look back on a successful event.

It is upstanding:
"The Circle" stands

HRS has invited to the topping-out ceremony for the Circle at Zurich Airport. With this beautiful tradition, they say “THANK YOU” to everyone who has worked and is still working on this great project. The lead architect, Riken Yamamoto, initiated the final phase with very personal words. Now it's time to fine-tune the finesse so that everything is ready to go next year. This also applies to Reflexion: we are responsible for the lighting planning in the Convention Center, in the Regency and Hyatt Place hotels, in the outdoor area including the “The Path” luminaire in the health center, as well as the basic construction with parking. More in our retrospective.

Golden rabbit for Pool Architects

We congratulate you warmly: pool Architekten was awarded the golden rabbit from «Hochparterre» for their architecture in the new Campus University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. The large scale of the cube was recognized with a breathtaking atrium that creates plenty of space for encounters. In our lighting concept, natural light is symbiotically supplemented with discreet artificial light. Since there is nothing to add to the unique architecture that speaks for itself, we did without dominant decorative elements. Rather, lighting solutions were used that blend completely with the architecture.
