Light for Literature Cantonal and City Library, St. Gallen

A public library has been integrated into the historic main post office building on the station square of the city of St. Gallen. For this purpose, the holdings of the Vaidiana cantonal library and the municipal open access library were merged.

The lighting concept is based on a diffuse, even and soft light distribution to avoid overexertion of the eyes due to high contrasts and generate an optimal vertical illuminance. All lights were consistently equipped with LED technology. The chandeliers and the light installation were specially made for the project and take up the design language of the essential lighting.
