Relaxation in the mountains Hallenbad, St. Moritz

The new indoor pool in St. Moritz is not only a swimming pool and diving pool, a children's fun area, a sports and leisure center as well as a space for wellness and gastronomy, outdoor activities and sales areas.

It combines a memorable architecture that, despite its unconventional appearance, blends harmoniously into the surroundings and landscape and combines this with a modern and functional infrastructure.

The soft, natural daylight available during the day was extended into the depths of the room with artificial light and additionally reinforced. To achieve this, precise geometric settings of diffuse light fields were made on the bathroom floor, which are integrated into the architectural grid. The volume of space is complemented with indirect light to underline the tension between the different heights of the room.

Ceiling lights specially developed for the project merge with the architecture and underline the light character of the building.
The further inside, i.e. further away from daylight, the rooms, the more the soft diffuse light merges into a staging. The highlight of this development of the spatial conditions is the Funtower, which receives no daylight, but is highly staged in terms of material and light typology – the mystical, dark counterpart to the white pool world, so to speak.

In the wellness and relaxation areas, the height of the light points, the illuminance levels, and the light color temperatures are lowered, creating a contemplative atmosphere. Although subtle differentiations in the lighting can be felt in the various rooms, these are connected by a generally reserved, soft lighting and homogeneous material language.
