A new district Sihlcity, Zurich

After almost four years of construction, a new district of around 100,000 m² has been created on the former Sihl paper mill site in southwest Zurich: Sihlcity.

In addition to the centerpiece, the shopping mall, Sihlcity, offers numerous leisure and entertainment options. This part of the city seems to be in operation 24 hours a day. The lighting of the area, therefore, played a central role in the planning.

For this significant urban project, the aim was to find a lighting concept in the heterogeneous building structure with a wide variety of uses to meet the complex demands and needs. A particular focus in the lighting design was on the appropriate atmospheric quality, which is necessary for a commercial world of experience.
